|Xavier Berenguer has a Ph. D. in Industrial Engineering
by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.
He was researcher at that university during some years, working at its Computer Center (educational applications) and at the Computer Science School (combinatorial optimization). He made postdoctoral stays at the University of California at Riverside (1978) and at Berkeley (1981).
In 1982 he cofounded Ègida, S.A. where he worked as designer of data processing projects.
He works on digital media since he cofounded in 1984 Animàtica, S.A., one of the first european computer animation companies; he directed it until 1992.
He is professor (associate, at present emeritus) at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, where he cofounded and directed the Audiovisual Institute (1994-2000), devoted to the experimentation on digital media, and the Master in Digital Arts (1996-2008).
He has written articles about computers and media, scripts for videos and interactives, texts for dissemination and some tales.
At present he works on writing and directing educational and documentary videos and webs, in particular, on science and technology.
